She began her ministerial training in September 1992 with the Reverend Carol Carnes and she graduated in July of 1998. Her ministry began in Vernon, BC as Pastor of the Okanagan Centre for Positive Living. The time she spent in Vernon gave her a powerful sense of what it means to be a minister. As a result of this experience, Rev. Barbara gained the confidence necessary to pursue her long-held dream. A dream which began on the first day of her Science of Mind training. Surprised by the realization that the International Centers for Spiritual Living did not have centres in Eastern Canada, Barbara was determined to establish one in Toronto. Eighteen months into her ministry Rev. Barbara left Vernon. With $40, a one-way plane ticket to Hamilton, two suitcases of summer clothes and a BIG dream, she moved to Toronto. In September of 2000, Rev. Barbara Schreiner-Trudel, Spiritual Director, founded the Centre for Spiritual Living, Toronto. From humble beginnings this centre has quickly become a thriving centre of peace, hope and spirituality in Toronto. Rev. Barbara's passion for empowering people through the Science of Mind is the driving force of her ministry. The Centre for Spiritual Living is the first of what will soon be many Spiritual Living centres in Eastern Canada. Her desire is that this teaching will become truly international and that it will touch the lives of millions of people worldwide. In recognition of this dream Rev. Barbara is now the Editor of the Global Services e-newsletter, Global Awakenings, for the Centers for Spiritual Living. This e-newsletter serves people around the world by keeping them up-to-date on all that is happening in the Science of Mind movement worldwide. Rev. Barbara is currently writing a musical based on her life story. To further her dream of many Spiritual Living centres in Eastern Canada, she is now working on opening up seed groups around Ontario. These offshoots of the Centre for Spiritual Living will eventually be taken over by other ministers when they have become viable operations that will support the financial well-being of a full-time minister. The first step in this expansion is the Centre for Spiritual Living, Waterloo Region, Spiritual Directors, Rev. Randy Armstrong and Rev. Ann Ahokangas-Armstrong. Rev. Barbara is also working on her first book, and she currently hosts a radio show on www.12radio.com, "This Thing That I Do" each Monday at 9pm est. She also appears on Rogers cable channel 10 as the host/producer of her own television show numerous times each year. Filled with plenty of energy, Rev. Barbara, the Spiritual Voice of Toronto, is an accomplished speaker, teacher and entrepreneur.
